A very special lecture session is coming up soon! Coinciding with the upcoming ANEMEL plenary meeting hosted by the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI) in Ljubljana, Slovenia, we have co-organised a side symposium of open lectures, with speakers from our consortium, as well as collaborative projects. The session will take place on Monday, 3rd November, from 14:00 to 17:00 (CET), under the title “Innovations in green hydrogen technologies”.
The event will take place in person at the Main Lecture Hall of JSI and is open to all researchers and innovators in and around Ljubljana. JSI will also stream the sessions online for free here. Additionally, we will record the talks and upload them to the ANEMEL YouTube channel, where you will be able to watch them at any time.

This special session is co-organised and hosted by our researcher Suraj Gupta, from the Advanced Materials Department at JSI, as part of an annual multi-speaker webinar initiative launched last year. Our upcoming event will feature several group leaders from the project as well as invited experts as speakers. Here’s more information about them:
Xile Hu is a Full Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), in Switzerland, where he founded and directs the Laboratory of Inorganic Synthesis and Catalysis. His interdisciplinary research focuses on developing sustainable and efficient methods for producing bioactive compounds, non-precious electrocatalysts, and fluorine-free membranes for renewable energy conversion and storage. He co-founded the start-up NovaMea and serves as its chairman. Hu is also a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and a Member of the Academia Europaea.
Pau Farràs is an Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Galway, in Ireland, where he leads the ChemLight group. This group focuses on the development of molecules and materials capable of driving renewable (light-)driven reactions for the production of fuels and chemicals. The research topics spans from metal nanoparticles for water splitting to photoactive porous materials for photocatalytic applications. Farràs is an Ambassador of the European Innovation Council, leads several EU projects, serves on the Technical Advisory Committee of Grupo Bimbo, is an Advisory Board Member of the Research Ireland project HyLIGHT, and is Co-director of Green Renewable Technologies Ltd.
Anna Ramunni holds a Master’s degree in Materials Science from the University of Milano-Bicocca and an Executive Master’s in technology and Innovation Management from Bologna Business School. She has been working with De Nora, in Italy, for nine years, initially as a researcher focused on the development of electrodes for water treatment applications via electro-chlorination. She now leads the New Applications Research team, focusing on breakthrough technologies and materials for De Nora, and manages R&D partnerships.

Fabio Dionigi is a physicist by training who developed a passion for electrocatalyst materials and electrocatalysis. He currently holds a permanent position as a Scientist at the Technische Universität Berlin (TUB), in Germany, in the group of Peter Strasser, focusing on electrochemical catalysis, energy, and materials science. As a project leader, Dionigi has coordinated collaborations between European universities and companies, teaches Electrochemical Engineering at TUB, and has successfully supervised numerous Bachelor’s and Master’s theses.
Nina Meglič has over 10 years of experience in R&D project management in the life sciences, particularly in the low-carbon circular economy. She is currently Project Coordinator at ReCatalyst, overseeing daily project operations, securing new opportunities, and promoting the company’s achievements. Meglič also serves as part of the Slovenian national contact point for the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP).
