After the successful launch of our series of free webinars, we are pleased to announce our fourth webinar session. It will take place next Tuesday, 1st October, at 2:00 pm CEST (Brussels). This is a special session, as it’s our first multi-speaker webinar, organised in collaboration with our partner the Jožef Stefan Institute in Slovenia.
We will feature three outstanding experts: Alberto Bucci, co-founder of Joltech Solutions; Kelsey Stoerzinger, Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota; and Sergio Perez Bakovic, R&D Engineer at Nel Hydrogen. We are also pleased to have the participation of Carina Faber, EIC Programme Manager. Join us to discuss innovations in the scale-up of catalysts for clean energy conversion, specifically catalysts without platinum-group metals (PGMs). Register here to receive a link to the free session.
Our speakers come from start-ups, industry, and academia, providing different perspectives on the technology transfer process. Alberto Bucci’s work focuses on the development of advanced catalytic coatings for electrochemical applications. Kelsey Stoerzinger specialises in designing clean catalysts for chemical valorisation using earth-abundant metals. Sergio Perez Bakovic works on the large-scale fabrication of PEM electrolysers, employing technologies such as roll-to-roll production.
PGMs are highly resistant to corrosion, chemical attack, and high temperatures, and possess unique catalytic properties, making them ideal for use as catalysts. However, they are considered critical raw materials (CRMs). This is due to significant supply risks stemming from geopolitical, economic, and scarcity factors, as well as the fact that they remain irreplaceable—though efforts are being made to change this. During this session, we will discuss the leading groups working on non-PGM catalysts, the state-of-the-art in their scale-up, and how to engage industries to share advancements in their industrial implementation, among other topics.
Our project coordinator, Pau Farràs, inaugurated our webinar series earlier this year. He explored the opportunities in impure water electrolysis, a technology that will play a crucial role in addressing water scarcity, offering a promising avenue for producing green hydrogen in a more sustainable way. Farràs was followed by our researcher Suhas Nuggehalli Sampathkumar from EPFL, Switzerland. He helped us understand a recently published paper that studies simulated membrane electrode assemblies (MEA) to enhance the efficiency of water electrolysis. Lastly, María Jaén, European Hydrogen Research Leader at EPRI Europe, explained the potential of hydrogen valleys for decarbonisation. Did you miss these sessions? No problem, you can still watch them for free here: link to session 1, link to session 2, and link to session 3.
Throughout these webinar series, streamed live on our YouTube channel, we will discuss the current challenges and opportunities in green hydrogen production, seawater electrolysis and sustainability. Anyone can join us to learn more about these topics and meet the leading experts in these fields.
So… mark your calendars and join us next week. And, to stay tuned for further updates and announcements about our exciting webinar series, subscribe to our ANEMEL newsletter. See you there!
